Farxiga (dapagliflozin) is a prescription tablet used for type 2 diabetes, heart failure and chronic kidney disease, according to its FDA label on DailyMed. It is one of the first 10 drugs with a Medicare negotiated price, and the CMS negotiated price file sets that price at $183.33 for a 30-day supply starting January 1, 2027, after the yearly inflation adjustment. The CMS Drug Price Negotiation Program page does not list Farxiga among deselected drugs.
How it works. The negotiated price is what your Part D plan pays for Farxiga, before pharmacy dispensing fees, and your share is figured from it. Under the 2027 standard benefit in the CMS CY2027 Rate Announcement, you pay 100% until you have paid the $700 deductible, then 25%, and nothing more for covered drugs once you reach $2,400 out of pocket in 2027.
What it costs in 2027. On the standard benefit, a monthly Farxiga fill costs $183.33 for the first 3 months, about $158 in month 4 when the deductible is met, then about $46 a month (25% of $183.33). That adds up to about $1,075 for the year. If you also take other brand-name drugs, you reach the $2,400 cap sooner, and after that covered drugs cost $0. Idaho's 8 standalone Part D plans for 2027 have deductibles from $300 to $700 and premiums from $5.30 to $238 a month, per the CMS CY2027 Landscape file, and many plans use a flat brand copay instead of 25% or require prior authorization. With Extra Help, a brand-name drug costs no more than $14.40 per prescription in 2027.
