Ada County at a Glance
Ada County is Idaho's most populous county, and it's growing fast — Meridian regularly shows up on lists of the fastest-growing cities in the entire country, per U.S. Census Bureau estimates. That growth shapes everything about insurance here: more carriers compete for your business, more plans hit the market each fall, and more new residents arrive every month wondering whether their old coverage followed them. Here's the county in one table.
| Fact | Detail |
|---|---|
| Population | About 520,000 — Idaho's largest county (U.S. Census Bureau estimates) |
| County seat | Boise — also Idaho's state capital |
| Cities we serve | Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Kuna, Star, Garden City |
| Residents 65+ | Roughly 15% of the county — around one in seven neighbors (approximate, U.S. Census Bureau estimates) |
| Hospital systems | St. Luke's Health System, Saint Alphonsus Health System, Treasure Valley Medical facilities |
| Our office | 6568 S Federal Way #213, Boise, ID 83716 — just off I-84 |
Why Do Ada County Residents Have So Many Medicare Choices?
Because carriers compete hardest where the most people live — and about 520,000 people live here, per U.S. Census Bureau estimates. That's good news and bad news. Good: you'll typically find one of the largest Medicare Advantage lineups in the state right in your ZIP code. Bad: "dozens of plans" is exactly how people end up frozen at the kitchen table with a stack of mailers every October.
That's where we come in. We're independent — not captive to any one carrier — so we can put plans from nine companies side by side and break them down into CarrieAnne's 6 comparison areas: premiums, networks, drug coverage, extras like dental and vision, out-of-pocket maximums, and how each plan fits the way you actually use healthcare. Then you decide. No pressure, no obligation — ever.
For scale, here's how Ada County stacks up against Idaho's other large counties. More people means more plan competition — which is why an Ada County comparison genuinely takes more sorting than most.

Which Cities and ZIP Codes Do We Serve in Ada County?
All of them. Medicare Advantage and Part D availability is set at the county level, but pricing and plan details can differ by ZIP — so when we run your comparison, we start from the exact ZIP code on your mailbox.
| City | ZIP codes | How we usually meet |

| Meridian | 83642 | Phone appointment |
| Eagle | 83616 | Phone appointment |

Will Your Doctors Be Covered?
Ada County residents are lucky to have deep provider options. Both of Idaho's largest hospital systems keep their flagship campuses right here — St. Luke's in downtown Boise and Meridian, and Saint Alphonsus with its regional medical centers in Boise and Meridian — plus Treasure Valley Medical facilities across the valley. But here's the catch nobody puts on the postcard: being near a hospital system doesn't mean every plan covers your doctor at that clinic. Networks differ plan by plan and can change every January.
So we don't guess. Before you enroll in anything, we verify your exact doctors, specialists, clinics, and pharmacy against each plan's current directory — and we confirm which plans are actually offered in your Ada County ZIP code for the current plan year. It's a ten-minute step that prevents the single most painful Medicare surprise there is.

When Can You Enroll or Switch in Ada County?
Medicare runs on a calendar, and missing a window can cost you — in penalties or in a year stuck on the wrong plan. Here are the windows that matter most to our Boise-area clients:
- Initial Enrollment Period. A seven-month window around your 65th birthday month — three months before, your birthday month, and three months after. Our turning-65 checklist walks the whole timeline.
- Annual Enrollment Period (October 15 – December 7). The fall window to join, drop, or switch Medicare Advantage and Part D plans for the coming year. Our busiest season — Ada County appointment slots go fast, so calling in September gets you first pick.
- Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment (January 1 – March 31). Already on an Advantage plan and having second thoughts? You get one switch — to another Advantage plan or back to Original Medicare.
- Special Enrollment Periods. Moving into Ada County, losing employer coverage, and certain other life events open their own windows. If you just relocated to Meridian or Eagle, call us — your old plan may not have followed you.
- Idaho's Medigap birthday rule. Medicare Supplement policyholders get a roughly 63-day window around each birthday to switch to equal-or-lesser benefits without health questions — an Idaho-specific perk since March 2022.

Ada County Medicare FAQs
Do you have a Medicare office in Boise I can visit?
Our office is at 6568 S Federal Way #213 in Boise, and it's the home base for everything we do. That said, we work phone-first — most Ada County clients find a phone appointment easier than a drive across town. Either way, a real person answers at 208-350-9933.
How many Medicare Advantage plans are available in Ada County?
As Idaho's most populous county, Ada County typically has one of the state's largest lineups of Medicare Advantage plans — usually dozens of options across multiple carriers, though the exact list changes every plan year. We check the current county lineup for your ZIP code and narrow it using our 6-area comparison method. We do not offer every plan available in your area; contact Medicare.gov, 1-800-MEDICARE, or your local SHIP for information on all options.
Will my Boise-area doctors be in network?
That's exactly what we verify before you enroll. Rather than assuming a hospital system is "in network," we check your exact doctors, clinics, and pharmacy against each plan's current directory — because networks can differ plan by plan and year by year, even within the same system.
When can I enroll in or change a Medicare plan in Ada County?
The Annual Enrollment Period runs October 15 – December 7 every year, and the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period runs January 1 – March 31. You also get your own Initial Enrollment Period around your 65th birthday, and certain life events trigger Special Enrollment Periods. Call us and we'll pinpoint your window.
What will Medicare cost in Ada County in 2026?
For the 2026 plan year, CMS set the standard Part B premium at $202.90 per month, the Part B deductible at $283, the Part A hospital deductible at $1,736 per benefit period, and the Part D out-of-pocket drug cap at $2,100. What you add on top — a Medicare Advantage plan, a Medigap policy, a drug plan — varies by plan and by county, and that's exactly the part we compare for you.
Does your help cost anything?
No. Our comparisons and enrollment help are free to you — we're paid by the insurance carriers, and the premium is the same whether you enroll through us or directly. You get an advocate in your corner at no extra cost, with no pressure and no obligation.
Can you help my under-65 spouse or family too?
Yes. For Ada County residents under 65, we compare ACA plans through Your Health Idaho — Idaho's own state-based exchange — including the premium tax credits that lower monthly costs. We also handle life insurance, long-term care, and short-term medical, so one phone call can sort out the whole household.
We do not offer every plan available in your area. Currently we represent 5 organizations which offer 300 products in your area. Please contact Medicare.gov, 1-800-MEDICARE, or your local State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) to get information on all of your options.
